Introducing The Rev. Michael Way, Priest in Charge

It is with tremendous pleasure that Monica and I, on behalf of the Vestry, announce that the Reverend Michael Way will become our Priest-In-Charge and clergy partner on August 1 2023.

Fr. Michael is coming to us from Christ Church in Middletown, NJ. He has served that community since 2019. Prior to that, Fr. Michael was Rector of Trinity Church in Asbury Park NJ, where he served from 2014-2019. An alumnus of Miami University of Ohio, Fr. Michael did graduate work at the University of Virginia and Indiana University. He earned his post-graduate divinity degree and was ordained from Bexley Hall Episcopal Seminary in Columbus, Ohio.

The priesthood is a second career for Fr. Michael. He spent 20 years directing special events for corporate sponsors at major New York City cultural institutions. He then segued to overseeing events in the sports world.

In accepting his calling to serve as our clergy partner Fr. Michael says: “I felt from my first engagement with the Vestry at St. Luke’s that this is where God wanted me to serve next.

It is a parish rooted in many long standing traditions, but one that has always opened its doors to new families and other individuals of all races and orientations seeking a place of worship where they are truly welcome and be allowed to be a child of a loving God.”

Fr. Michael is looking forward to getting his feet wet during the month of August so he can jump in for the start of our program year in September. He is looking forward to meeting everyone. 

The Vestry is sure you will feel his contagious excitement for partnering with our Parish. Besides coffee hour he is planning on having regular office hours which will be published so you can stop by and introduce yourself.

Thank you for your patience in this process. The Vestry took our task very seriously and it did feel like the Holy Spirit guided us all.
