Acolytes, who include crucifers and torch bearers, serve on the altar during services. The crucifer carries the cross during processions, hands the offering plates to the ushers, receives them back, hands them to the deacon, and assists the deacon and priest during the Eucharist. The torch bearers accompany the crucifer during the processions. We encourage children to become acolytes beginning in the second grade. Adults are welcome to join us in this ministry of service at the altar.

Lectors serve our community by reading the first reading and leading the Psalm. This ministry is open to anyone from second grade or older. Children are encouraged to be lectors and are usually scheduled the first Sunday of the month at the 10 am service.

Ushers greet parishioners and visitors when they arrive at the service and hand out bulletins. Additionally, ushers assist in the offertory collection, ring our church bell at the end of the service, and help tidy up the church when the service is over. This ministry is also open to anyone second grade or older. It’s a great way to be a part of the ministry that doesn’t involve public speaking. Ushers are needed at all services.
