Each of our weekend Eucharist services at St. Luke's is a little different. We have created this page to give you a taste of each through the descriptions and quotes from our parishioners. We hope it helps you to select one to try first. Of course we invite you to try them all to see which best feeds your spirit!
The organ plays, the choir sings and so does the congregation. The language is the one we use in daily life. During the school year, the children go to Sunday School at 10.00 and then join the rest of us in the church in time to receive Communion with their families. Coffee Hour in the parish hall follows the service, a time when young and old enjoy coffee, fruit juice, bagels, donuts, and one another.
Even if I was not in choir, I would still attend the ten o’clock service because, to me, music and singing is a form of prayer. ~Ann Marie
Most of my friends, whom I share parish ministries with, go to the 10am service. I go to catch up and confirm plans. I really enjoy the diversity of people who come to this service. ~Florence
I attend this service because I love music. I also like the frank and honest conversations we have after the service at coffee hour.
I attend 5:30 Saturday when I feel the need for more quiet. ~Julia
The liturgy and music provides grounding and refreshment in a world that can wear you out. ~Kathy

A quiet, contemplative beginning to Sunday morning – like the Saturday service with one important difference: except for the sermon, the service uses our English language as it was when the first Book of Common Prayer appeared nearly five centuries ago. It is the language of Shakespeare, written at the time of Shakespeare. But fear not: it is readily understood by modern people, and it is beautiful.
I like the quieter atmosphere and I have a strong preference for the traditional language of Rite l service. ~Jane
It gives me more time to do things the rest of the day.
I have dear friends who also go to 8am.

At this quiet service, there is no organ music or singing – just quiet prayers, readings from the Bible, a sermon offering thoughts on the readings for the day and the sacrament of Communion itself. The priest offers blessings and prayers for special occasions in the lives of those who attend – birthdays, wedding anniversaries, all the important milestones in life. A bonus: in the winter months, the setting sun shines through the beautiful window above our altar.
We chose the 5:30 Saturday service. I’m not a great singer so I don’t miss the music and we don’t have to get up at 6:30 Sunday morning to get to the 8am service. ~George
I love the peaceful intimacy of this service.
Everyone is warm and friendly. It is easy to get to know everyone.
I’m so grateful for this service because it is the only one I can attend.

All three services are Eucharist, Holy Communion, services. What is Holy Communion? It’s the celebration of Jesus’ sacrificial love for us and his ongoing presence among us. Bread and wine are consecrated by the priest and consumed by all who wish to receive it.
